Monaco International Pre-Rally, March 14 - 17, 2006

Well the Luau is over, the grass skirts and leis have been put away for another day. The Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, CA. was the site for the "Luau In Lancaster" spring 2006 Monaco International Pre-Rally. Having arrived in Lancaster a couple of weeks early, we were quite concerned when we experienced rain, snow and high winds; but for the most part the weather cooperated and we were able to have a great rally with 432 coaches in attendance; all parked on asphalt.

The rally kicked off on Monday evening with a beer, wine, Pina Colada and hors d'oeuvres social and the attendees were treated to a car show put together by Leonard Widdes. We were pleased to have a large number of First Timers in attendance and hope to see them at many rallies in the feature. The craft classes were well attended and all who participated had a great time. The golf tournament, organized by John O'Brien consisted of 84 golfers who braved the cool and windy course. I am told that although some golfers had a hard time finding their golf balls in the snow and the beer cart was slow in coming around, they had a great day. Chris Weilbacher from the Lake Elizabeth Golf Course had this to say, "--- Monaco Motor Home Association (Monaco International) is one classy group of people. --- Paige was a swell guy. ---He is a perfect spokesperson for the company."

Approximately 125 ladies were in attendance for the Red Hat Luncheon organized by Nancy Wolfe and they had a great time being entertained with a Hula Contest performed by some local talent (if you could call it that).

. The entertainment arranged by Susanne Verretto was nothing but outstanding. Tuesday, we were treated to a Hula Show performed by professional dancers with some local talent participation. This was followed on Wednesday with “the Diamonds” entertaining us with their 50’s music. Every aisle in the dining hall was filled with people dancing all the way up to the last song. On Thursday the great comedian and versatile musician, Dick Hardwick kept us laughing to the end.

We are grateful to the many vendors and suppliers in attendance and especially to those who conducted the many informative seminars and provided sponsorship.

We are appreciative to have Bubba and the Monaco Tech’s in attendance and as always they are friendly and courteous even when working in adverse conditions. We want to say thanks to all the Monaco tech’s for all you do for us.

Monaco Coach Corporation along with the six dealers put together a great display area and was rewarded with the sale of 50 new coaches thus providing an exciting end to a great rally with the drawing on Friday night. A big thank you goes out to Sara Spicer and the Monaco Staff for all their help and support.

We would also like to thank the Antelope Valley Fair Staff for their help in making this a successful rally and hope that all who attended the “Luau In Lancaster” enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed being your host. We also want to say a great big thank you to all the volunteers that made this rally possible.
